Kart Expo 2026 Recap: Where the Karting Industry Is Headed Next

The ROLLER team at Kart Expo 2026

The ROLLER team had a great few days at Kart Expo 2026 in Michigan, connecting with operators and industry leaders across the karting and FEC space.

Held at High Caliber, the event brought together a passionate community of operators focused on improving performance, delivering better guest experiences, and figuring out what comes next for the industry.

For our team, it was a valuable opportunity to listen, share ideas, and see firsthand where karting venues are investing their time and energy in 2026.

ROLLER at Kart Expo

As a Gold Sponsor, ROLLER was proud to take part in the program with a session led by our own Wes Ratcliff, General Manager of Karting.

The session, “From Green Flag to Checkered Flag: Building a High Performance FEC,” focused on what it really takes to run a high-performing venue today, from simplifying operations to using data and technology in ways that actually make a difference day to day.

As with many sessions at Kart Expo, the conversation quickly moved beyond theory into practical, real-world application.

What we heard from operators

Across conversations on the show floor and throughout the sessions, a few clear themes emerged:

Experience and simplicity win

Operators continue to value solutions that are easy to use and built with real industry understanding. Simplicity, especially in UI and day-to-day workflows, consistently stands out over more complex, over-engineered systems.

Trust is built through responsiveness

Support and responsiveness came up again and again. Operators notice when partners are proactive, accessible, and genuinely invested in their success. They also quickly notice when they’re not.

Proving value matters

Price becomes a bigger factor when value isn’t clearly demonstrated. Operators are looking for partners who understand their business and can show tangible outcomes, not just features.

Key takeaways

AI and innovation

Many of the challenges venues face today aren’t staffing issues, they’re system issues. This includes slow response times, missed follow-ups, and inconsistent guest experiences that are often the result of gaps in process, not people.

Operators are already using AI to support day-to-day operations, including:

  • Automated guest communication and follow-ups
  • Chatbots for instant answers and bookings
  • Staff training and onboarding support
  • Social media content creation
  • Smarter call routing and response systems

Strong foundations make everything else work

But before layering in AI, the fundamentals need to be in place. Venues that are seeing the most success are focusing on:

  • Defining a clear operational voice
  • Centralizing key information (hours, pricing, packages)
  • Mapping the guest journey to identify friction points

From there, automation becomes far more effective and easier to scale. The advice shared throughout the event was to start small, build momentum, and focus on solving real operational pain points first.

Looking ahead

Kart Expo 2026 reinforced something we’re seeing across the industry: operators are ready for change. There’s a clear appetite for smarter, more proactive systems, tools that reduce friction, and solutions that actually deliver on their promises.

At the same time, expectations are rising, especially around innovation, and the ability to demonstrate real value. The industry is evolving quickly, and the operators who embrace simplicity, strong systems, and thoughtful innovation will be best positioned for what’s ahead.

A big thank-you to everyone who connected with us during the event. We’re excited to keep those conversations going throughout the year. See you next time!
