Employee Spotlight: Meet Filipe!

At ROLLER, we're big believers in creating great experiences, and that extends to our customers, their guests, and our team members too!!

Assembling a group of talented individuals that delivers a friendly, inclusive work culture each day is no easy feat – but we're proud of the team we’ve built and how quickly we’re bringing on new talent to best support our customers!

And today, we want you to meet another one of our #FacesofTech, Filipe!

No stranger to our systems, Filipe began his ROLLER journey client-side for a number of years whilst working for AirHop.

During this time, he took a keen interest in, and liking for, the way in which we developed and delivered updates to the platform.

Then, much to his delight, in November of 2021, Filipe noticed the role of Training & Implementation Manager at ROLLER become available. And the rest, as they say, is history!

Here’s what he had to say about working at ROLLER.

1. Where are you based?

Bristol, UK.

2. Have you always been based there?

No, I’ve moved around quite a lot throughout the years, but with Bristol being such an amazing place, I will probably settle here!

3. How did you come to find out about ROLLER?

I found out about ROLLER when the company I was working for (AirHop) decided to move to ROLLER for their booking system. I worked with ROLLER for the past four years as the ROLLER champion at AirHop and gained first-hand experience at just how awesome the ROLLER systems and team members were!

4. What excited you about the opportunity to work for ROLLER?

Whenever there was any interaction with ROLLER, it was always pleasant. From those interactions, it was obvious that there was alignment between ROLLER’s values and my own, so I always had it in the back of my mind that they’d be fantastic to work for.

5. What other teams do you work with most closely to achieve success for customers?

With me being on the onboarding team, I will be working with a variety of teams to ensure a fantastic experience for the customer. These teams will include: Sales, Finance, CS, Product teams, and the list goes on! 

6. What are you known for amongst your colleagues at ROLLER?

Table tennis! Although there seems to be a huge amount of competition at ROLLER! 

7. What do you like to do in your spare time?

Playing a variety of sports, walks, hiking. I’m a bit of an outdoorsy person, so love anything outdoors-related!

8. How do you balance work and other commitments and responsibilities you may have?

Having a work/life balance is important to me and ROLLER understands this and strives to provide this balance for all of their employees.

The team puts so much focus on maintaining a healthy work/life balance in order to facilitate staff to excel in their role to the best of their ability.

For example, being able to switch off after work is an important one for me. My manager, Steve, always encourages the team to take time to recharge so we can come back to work refreshed and excited for the day ahead. Having this kind of leadership really makes all the difference in the way an employee feels about coming into work everyday.

Favorite TV show: Game of Thrones (before the last season!)

Favorite color: Red

Cats or dogs: Dogs, of course! But I wouldn’t say no to a cat! 

Beach or Mountains: Ooh, tricky one! I think I sway more towards the mountains! 

Pet/s:  I don’t currently have any pets, although if my living arrangements change, I’d definitely  get a dog!
